Harold E. "Hal" Rollins, Jr.

HAROLD E. "HAL" ROLLINS, JR. 63, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Hal was born January 13, 1951, in Huntington, a son of the late Harold E. Rollins Sr., and Lucy C. Hatten Rollins. He was also predeceased by a brother, Walter Dale Rollins. He was Vice President of Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Hal was a 1969 graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School. He earned his BA from Marshall University and received his AAS from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova. Hal enjoyed the annual golf outing with his friends and every opportunity he had to play. He spent many years as a baseball umpire and was a member of the Western WV Umpire Association. Hal learned the joy of bowling from his father and followed in his footsteps to bowl two perfect 300 games in 1994 and 2002. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #93 Kenova. He is survived by one sister, Patti Rollins of Kenova; two daughters and one son-in-law, Andrea and Jack Butcher of Ceredo and Barbie Maynard of Kenova; grandchildren Brittani, Rylee, Addison, Dawson, Jennah, Emily and Mia; a special aunt who never failed to be there when he needed her, Marion Sansom and her husband Walter of Huntington; three uncles and their wives, Don and Joan Hatten of Olney, Ill., Dale and Zelda Hatten of Kenova and Larry and Charlene Hatten of Ashland, Ky.; two special co-workers, David G. Amos and his wife Kelly, and Timothy D. Bias and his wife Georgeann; many cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Kenova United Methodist Church in Kenova. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, April 25, 2014 at the church with Pastor Scott Byard officiating and Rev. Jim Richards assisting. Burial will follow in Dock's Creek Cemetery. We will miss his smile and his joy for life.
