Alice E. Grooms Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Alice E. Grooms, 96, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Kenova , WV. passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 7, 2017 with Pastor Scott Byard officiating at Hillcrest Cemetery. She was born December 1, 1921 in Kenova, WV. a daughter of the late William Byron and Bertha Skeens Morrison. She was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church and retired Secretary to the Postmaster with the Huntington Postal Service. Alice was a former volunteer with Hospice and the V.A. Medical Center. She was also a member of the Cabell-Wayne Association of the Blind. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her beloved husband Stanley V. Grooms; one brother Clarence Morrison; one sister Ruth Clifford; infant son John Allen Crouch and two step-children Stanley R. Grooms and Gerri Grooms. She is survived one daughter Carol Sue Crouch Mills (William Curry) of Huntington, WV.; one step-son James “Chip” Grooms (Julie) of Glen, New Hampshire; one sister Helen Kingston of Ashtabula, Ohio; one sister-in-law Ramona Stoner Morrison of Alexandria, Virginia; four step-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; three nieces and five nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to caregivers Tammy Black, Deloris Blevins and William Curry.
