Jay Wilson Sperry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jay Wilson Sperry, 87, of Kenova, WV, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital just nine days after the passing of his beloved wife Helen Faye Smith Sperry. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Rollins Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Mullens officiating. Interment will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery. Jay was born December 22, 1929 in Kenova, W.Va. a son of the late Edward and Ethel Shannon Sperry. He was a retired operator from the Ashland Oil Refinery. Jay was a veteran having served in the Marines during the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 93 whose Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. He was also a member of the Kenova Masonic Lodge AF & AM 110. In addition to his parents and his wife he was also preceded in death by five brothers Edward Sperry Jr., Richard Sperry, Phillip Gene Sperry, James Edward Sperry and Baby Boy Sperry and two sisters Charlotte Sperry and Veronica Chaney. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Joel Sperry (Sandie), one daughter and son-in-law Jaylen Rowe (Bruce), five grandchildren Chuck and Cindy Sperry, Jacie and Gary Huff, Shannon and Jake Gibson, John and Dani Kelly and Lakin and Chris McCann, eleven great grandchildren Chas, Treyson and Sammy Sperry, Kade and Caelan Huff, Brenna and Luke Gibson, Emma, Jaxon and Jayden Kelly and Finley McCann; one brother Doug Sperry; four sisters Thelma Nichols, Genevieve Thompson, Joyce Copley (Tom), Rita Myers; sister-in-law Alice Sperry and brother-in-law Norman Chaney.
