Joseph Elmon Billups Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

DR. JOSEPH ELMON BILLUPS, DDS, 83, of Kenova, died Friday, August 1, 2014, at Rivers Bend Health Care in South Point, Ohio. Joe was born June 6, 1931, in Louisa, Ky., a son of the late Okla H. and Elizabeth Austin Billups. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and members of American Legion Post #93 Kenova Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. Joe was involved in his community and served on the C-K Chamber of Commerce where he was a past president; he was on the board of directors for the Ceredo-Kenova Credit Association and the Kenova Police Civil Service Commission. He was a self-employed dentist in Kenova for 40 years. Professionally he was a member of the American Dental Association and the W.Va. Dental Society with a 25 year Certificate of Distinction. Joe was a Kentucky Colonel; a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity; and a member of the C-K Alumni Band. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one sister, Loraine Casto; her husband, Keith Casto; and a nephew, Charles Keith Casto. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Beverly Knight Billups; two beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly C. and Kenneth R. Marcum of Huntington, W.Va., and Lee Ann and Dennis E. Blevins of Kenova, W.Va.; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Leslee E. and Jeremy Martin and Katelyn Chaffin; three step-grandchildren, Rina and Dr. Andrew Foy, MD; Kara and Dr. Samuel Litteral, DPT; and Kenneth R. Marcum II; 13 great-grandchildren; one nephew, David Casto; and two sisters-in-laws, Clara Knight of Milton, W.Va. and Betty Jo Knight of Ravenswood, W.Va. The family would like to thank the staff of the VA Medical Center, Rivers Bend Health Care, Hospice of Huntington, Right at Home and Preferred Health for their kindness and care of Joe and the family. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with family friend Dallas Moore officiating.
