Marjorie Hatten Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marjorie L. Richardson Hatten Margie was born April 7, 1925 in Peru, Indiana, the daughter of Fred Joseph Richardson and Zora Marquiss Richardson. She passed away at home, on January 21, 2012 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband of over fifty years, Francis Milton “Rainbo” Hatten, two brothers, Glenn “Smokey” and Joseph Jesse and one sister, Doris Griggs. In 1944 after meeting Rainbo in her own restaurant in Peru, they married and settled in Kentucky for 12 years before moving to Kenova, West Virginia to live the rest of their lives. Margie was very active in the PTA, serving several terms as President of the Wayne County Council, and was partially responsible for the first book levies in Wayne County. She is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Shirley (Wayne) Klepinger of Bunker Hill, Indiana, Uva (Mac) Lesley of Columbia City, Indiana, Jerry (Ann) Richardson, of Peru, Indiana, and Herbert Richardson of Peru, Indiana; three children and one step-daughter, Joseph M. (Sherry) of St. Albans, WV, Charles W. (Barbara), of Kenova, WV, Frances M. Stewart lives in Michigan City, Indiana, and Lavera Anne H. Dishman Lives in Louisville, KY; six grandchildren, Steven J. Hatten of St. Albans, WV, Bryan F. Hatten of Kenova, WV, Kevin D. Steward of Loveland, Colorado, Keith R. (Kasey) Stewart, of Chicago, Illinois, Wendy (Mark) Jenkins of Kenova, WV and Melanie (Bruce) Christianson, Hutto, Texas; four great grandchildren, Jack and Sara Jenkins of Kenova, WV and Brooke and Hayden Christianson of Hutto, TX.; a very special nephew, Curtis E. Hinkle of Huntington, WV and all who loved her dearly. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the members of Sharing Hands LLC in Kenova and a special thanks to Kim Kelly of Kenova, without whom, Margie could not have enjoyed her last days nearly as much. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. The procession will leave the funeral home at 1 p.m. for a graveside service, which will begin at 1:30 p.m., at Cyrus Cemetery, Prichard, with Rev. Scott Byard officiating.
