Patsy Jean Mays

Our beautiful Mother, Patsy Jean Mays of Ceredo, WV, went home to join her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Patsy was born October 20, 1932, in Beards Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Clay and Elizabeth Pierce. A woman whose faith was an inspiration to all that knew her, Patsy departed peacefully at home surrounded by her family. In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd Mays; one son, John William Mays; sisters Peggy Jane Gallagher, her twin, and Sue Perrine; and her mother and father-in-law, Roy and Thelma Cyrus Mays. Patsy is survived by her children, Floyd (Christine) Mays of West Chester, OH; Karin (Mike) Dawson and Kathy (Paul) Billups of Ceredo, WV; and her brothers Jerry (Pat) Pierce of Kenova, WV and Jim Moore of Greensboro, NC. Left to carry her legacy of service to God and Family are her Grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Dawson, and Tyler (Jessica) Dawson, Stephanie Mays and her fiancé Brandon Jarrett, Christopher (Abby) Mays, and their mother, Vickie Sparks Mays, Kristin Mays, Zack Mays and fiancé Maddie Sloan, and Morgan Billups; and her Great-Grandchildren, Caelan Dawson, Luke Dawson, and Callie Mays. A member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo, Patsy was retired from the accounting firm of Hall, McNeal and Williamson. Her greatest passion beyond her family was her service to the church, and in that spirit she taught the children’s Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church of Kenova for over thirty years. The family would like to express thanks to those that prayed for and visited Patsy during her last illness, along with her care-giver and friend Debra Davis. Her warm smile and gentle ways will forever be remembered by all whose lives she touched. The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo. A Celebration of Life service will begin immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Cyrus Cemetery.
